The article is produced by prepositioning nonwoven reinforcement made of a etallic mesh to which ceramic tiles are wired inside of a centrifugal casting mold. Molten matrix metal is then introduced into the mold while being rotated about an axis parallel to the inflow path of the molten metal until it completely encapsulates the reinforcement.
